Small Signal Stability Analysis of PMSG-VSG and Optimal Design for Control Parameters

In this paper, the small signal stability of PMSG-VSG is analyzed and a optimal controller parameter design method is proposed. Firstly, the small signal model of PMSG-VSG is built, and the state space matrix is deduced. Then the influence of VSG control parameters on the small signal stability of the PMSG-VSG is analyzed. Finally, considering the limitation of system oscillations and the stochastic drifting of operating point, a global optimization design method for controller parameters to improve system stability is proposed. And the time domain simulation shows that the optimized PMSG-VSG could provide sufficient inertia and damping in the case of the wind power output changes in a wider range.
