Development of a field sequential color view finder for color video cameras

1993
A miniature high-resolution color display unit has been developed as a view finder for consumer color video cameras. This field sequential color display system produces a color picture without the use of dots. This system is a great improvement over color liquid crystal displays, solving problems such as resolution and color representation. Resolution is dependent upon the time compression circuit's performance. This color display maintains good contrast under a variety of light situations, including those out of doors, because the color filter, which is located in front of the CRT (cathode ray tube) screen, reduces reflection of outer light on the display area. >
