System and method for providing spatial information services

The invention provides a system and a method for providing spatial information services. The system and the method are used for solving the problem of resource waste due to the fact that a web geographic information system put into operation cannot be used by other subsequently constructed information systems in the field of electric power systems in the prior art. The system comprises a web geographic information system and a WEB server, wherein the web geographic information system is used for management and release of geospatial information through the Internet; and the WEB server connected with the web geographic information system is used for executing graphic display and operational programs, receiving and obtaining service requests of the geospatial information by executing graphic display and the operational programs, sending analyzed service requests to the web geographic information system and returning the web geographic information system to generate service response according to the analyzed service requests. By the aid of the technical scheme, resource waste is effectively avoided.
