Natural scene images brought newchallenges forafewyears andoneofthemistext understanding overimages orvideos. Textextraction whichconsists tosegment textual foreground fromthebackground succeeds using color information. Faced tothelarge diversity oftext information indaily life andartisticwaysofdisplay, weareconvinced that this onlyinformation isnomoreenough andwepresent acolor segmentation algorithm using spatial information. Moreover, anewmethod isproposed inthis paper tohandle uneven lighting, blurand complex backgrounds whichareinherent degradations tonatural scene images. Tomergetext pixels together, complementaryclustering distances areusedtosupport simultaneously clear andwell-contrasted images withcomplex anddegraded images. Tests onapublic database showfinally efficiency of thewholeproposed method.
