Sclerosing Hemangioma of the Lung

Sclerosing hemangioma of the lung is a rare entity which was initially identified by Liebow and Hubell in 1956. Initially, it was considered as a variant of hemangioma then it has been classified among epithelial tumours according to the World Health Organization classification. We report 3 cases of lung sclerosing hemangioma diagnosed over a period of 21 years and our aim is to highlight the microscopic features of this entity and its major differential diagnoses. We report 3 cases of lung sclerosing hemangioma diagnosed over a period of 21 years We describe the cases of 3 patients aged respectively 38, 40 and 68 years who presented respiratory symptoms. Radiologic findings weren’t specific in the 3 cases evoking a malignant tumour. Positive diagnosis was based on the microscopic findings in the three cases and the diagnosis of tuberculosis was evoked in one patient. The treatment was based on surgical resection in the three cases. Sclerosing hemangioma of the lung is a rare benign tumor with a challenging diagnosis mimicking in most cases lung adenocarcinoma. The diagnosis is based on microscopic findings and immunohistochemical techniques .
