Effects of ovarian sex hormone on the molecules related to the endometrial receptivity in peri-implantation

2004
Objective: To investigate the effects of estrogen (E_2) and progesterone (P) on the expression of the molecules related to the endometrial receptivity and explore the mechanism of endometrial receptivity. Methods:The ovariectomized mice were injected intraperitoneally with E_2, P and E_2+P respectively. The expressions of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in endometria of mice were detected with RT-PCR. Results: E_2 + P, but not E_2 or P alone, increased the level of ICAM-1 mRNA in the mouse endometrium (P0.05). E-seletin mRNA was detected only in the group of E_2 + P. The expression of LIFmRNA was elevated by E_2, P (P0.05) and E_2+ P (P0.01). Conclusion: The results suggested that ovarian sex hormones could play a role through regulating periodically the expressions of related molecules in the establishment of endometrial receptivity.
