Complex formation between a mixed polyamide and alkali-earth and transition metal ions☆

1988
Abstract Complex-formation and physical and mechanical properties were studied of polymer complexes prepared in pure ethanol solution by the reaction of copolyamide “Anid G-669” with Ca and Zn chlorides. It was shown that the addition into polyamide of more than 5·5 mole % CaCl 2 or more than 16 mole% ZnCl 2 results in a loss of solubility and amorphization of polymer complexes. For products containing Zn(II) ions a reduction is observed in glass temperature and melting point and as a result of coordination with Ca(II) ions crosslinking of polymer chains takes place and polymer heat stability increases.
