[High-dose methylprednisolone in acute spinal injury].

2008
: The widespread use of high-dose methylprednisolone in acute spinal injury is based on the NASCIS studies, despite the fact that these studies have met with serious criticism and other studies fail to reproduce the same results. The NASCIS data is insufficient to support the use of high-dose methylprednisolone as a treatment standard or as a guideline for treatment following an acute closed spinal cord injury. The data may support the treatment as optional, but the high evidence of complications should be kept in mind.
