100G optical transceiver module with forward error correction function and based on direct modulation laser

2015
The invention relates to a 100G optical transceiver module with an FEC (forward error correction) function and based on a DML (direct modulation laser). The 100G optical transceiver module comprises a light emission function unit, a light reception function unit and a control function unit. The light emission function unit is added with an FEC coded message after receiving electrical signals of a CAUI or CAUI-4, and drives the DML to convert the electrical signals into optical signals; and the light reception function unit converts the received optical signals into electrical signals through wave division and carries out FEC decoding, and sends the decoded electrical signals to the CAUI or CAUI-4 interface unit for outputting after being multiplexed by a multiplexer. The FEC coding and decoding mode is adopted to compensate for the problem of high middle/long-distance transmission error code rate due to reduced signal to noise ratio of a channel caused by the fact that extinction ratio is getting smaller due to dispersion inhibition of the DML, and the problem of limited 100 G transmission distance of the DML is solved, and transmission distance is prolonged. Compared with a conventional electro-absorption modulated laser scheme, the 100G optical transceiver module has better cost advantage.
