Water chemistry and corrosion in steam cycles: Missing knowledge

2003
This article is a modified version of a paper presented at the Electric Power Research Institute 7th International Conference on Cycle Chemistry in Fossil Plants. It discusses the main water chemistry and corrosion processes and problems associated with steam generation that are not sufficiently understood. The discussion of missing knowledge is divided into four sections: 1) Root Cause and Faiiure Analysis, 2) commissioning, Operation, and Maintenance, 3) Water and Steam Chemistry, and 4) Corrosion.
