Design of Chipless RFID Resonators for UWB Applications

2021
Chipless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is one of the most rapidly increasing technologies in the field of identification of systems over the past few years. Tagging technology has an edge over the optical barcodes as it does not require line-of-sight communication. In this article, a chipless RFID tag is designed using several rectangular patches with a U-Shape and an inverted U-shaped resonator. The dimensions of the proposed tag are $19 mm \times 19 mm \times 1.6 mm$ and it is designed to operate at frequencies between 4-10 GHz. RCS simulations have been carried out using CST Microwave studio version 2019 and the results have proven to be suitable for applications in the Ultra-wideband frequency range.
