Decreased virulence of mycobacterium tuberculosis by inactivating the phoP gene.

2001
Decreased virulence of The construction of a mutant by homologous recombination from a clinical isolate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis wherein the phoP gene is inactivated, attenuated virulence in the macrophage of mouse bone marrow. The phoP mutant also decreases their virulence in experimental mouse model. This phoP mutant is also able to persist without being eliminated both in the macrophage and in the mouse.
