Characteristics of Pozzolanic Cement Composites Part II: Chemical Resistance against some Aggressive Solutions

2009
The resistance of cement composites containing 30 mass% of Granulated slag (GBFS), silica fume (SF) and homra (H) to some aggressive media, as 4% MgSO 4 , 4% MgCl 2 and sea water, was studied. The results showed that the combined water, sulfate and chloride contents increased up to 6 months, while the compressive strength increased only up to 3 months and then decreased. The sea water is more effective than other media due to the presence of both SO 4 2- and Cl - ions. The cement composite containing 15 mass% GBFS, 10 mass% H and 5 mass% SF was selected to be the most resistant against all aggressive media.
