Smart Grid-based Conceptual Model of Virtual Infrastructures for Developing Innovation Capability of Danube macroregion

The paper presents a brand-new strategic approach for planning the development of virtual research scientific infrastructures (RIs) at transnational level. The creativity of the proposed conceptual model lays down in the specific integration of 4 (four) different already known innovation-based frameworks: (1) smart grid framework for energy efficiency; 2) smart city framework for regional development; 3) sustainable development framework; and 4) security and safety framework in one hybrid intelligent strategic model, which is aiming to ensure the advanced regional development and territorial cohesion using the innovations and knowledge as driving-forces for positive change within larger scope e.g. Danube macroregional area.
