Disclosed are a method, apparatus, and mobile terminal for determining foreign material on the surface of a fingerprint sensor, said method comprising: obtaining the current capacitance value of a fingerprint sensor of a terminal; calculating a first difference between said current capacitance value and a preset capacitance reference value; if said first difference is within a preset foreign-material threshold, then determining that a foreign material is present on the surface of the fingerprint sensor.
