The invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer body, in particular of a security element in which a partial first layer and a partial first layer system is formed on a substrate, wherein the partial first layer or the partial first layer system is present in a first part region and does not exist in a second partial area. Subsequently, a partial second layer, or a partial second layer system is produced, the partial second layer or the partial second layer system is present in a third sub-region and does not exist in a fourth portion, and wherein the third portion with the first and second partial region overlapped. Finally, the first partial layer or partial first layer system using the partial second layer or of the partial second layer system is structured as a mask.
