The treatment of 42 cases of the chronic dacryocystitis with modified dacryocystorhinostomy

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of modified dacryocystorhinostomy for the treatment of the chronic dacryocystitis.Methods: 42 cases of chronic dacryocystitis admitted from February 2010 to July 2013 underwent the treatment of the modified dacryocystorhinostomy and then retrospectively analyzed,with the postoperative therapeutic effect summarized during 1-year follow-up. Results: Among all these cases,39 cases( 92. 9 %) were cured,2 cases( 4. 8 %) improved and 1 case( 2. 4 %) unrecovered,with the total efficiency 97. 6 %. Conclusion:Modified dacryocystorhinostomy for the treatment of the chronic dacryocystitis shows advantages such as high success rate of operation,low postoperative complication and is suitable for clinical application in the undeveloped region.
