The clinical study of comfortable position for muscular injection

2004
Objective To explore the most comfortable body position for muscular injection. Methods Each of 450 patients (1 045 times of injections on aggregation) was given at least 2 muscular injections in different body positions, including traditional body position in which patient lies on side with upper leg straight and under leg bended, and approved body position in which patient lies on side with under leg bended and under leg straight. A simplified Mcgil Pain Questionnaire and a self-designed scale were adopted to assess and compare the pain and comfort degree between different body positions. Results There was no significant difference about pain degree (P=0.314), however there was significant difference about comfort degree between two groups (P0.001), namely, patients feel more comfortable when taking the approved body position. Conclusion Comparing with the traditional body position, the approved body position is more comfortable for patients and accepted by them more happily.
