Research Trends—Practical Bibliometrics and a Growing Publication

2020
For 3 years Henk Moed acted as the editor in chief of “Research Trends” (RT), an online publication from Elsevier that aimed to provide straightforward insights into scientific trends based on bibliometric research. During his tenure, the publication saw a tremendous growth in scope and content. Thanks to Henk’s directive and contributions, what started as a ‘newsletter’ became a full-fledged scientific publication with in-depth articles covering a variety of topics across diverse themes and disciplines. I worked with Henk during that time and became a part of the RT team in 2011 until its closing in 2014. The aim of this chapter is to give tribute to the enormous work that was accomplished; the articles, the research and the scientific trends that were reported during those years by the entire RT team and external contributors from around the globe (Research Trends’ website is not currently maintained. Unfortunately, only PDF versions of the articles are available. Therefore, any additional altmetric or bibliometric indicators were not available to the author beyond what is reported here.).
