Study on the sulfonating conditions of alkylphenol polyxyethylene ether sulfonate synthesized by the method of Streck
2010
Octylphenol polyoxyethylene ether sulfonate(OPS) is a kind of nonionic-anionic surfactant with a good performance of temperature-tolerance and salt-tolerance.It is synthesized in laboratory by the chlorination reaction of octylphenol polyxyethylene ether(OP-4) with thionyl chloride(SOCl2) and the sulfonation reaction of the obtained intermediate with sodium sulfite, the mixture of sodium sulfite and sodium bisulfite and potassium sulfite of different sulfonating agents separately. The conditions of the sulfonation reaction are optimized. The results show that the yield rate of sulfonation can reach to 82.6% under the optimum reaction conditions: the molar ratio of the intermediate to potassium sulfite is 1:1.3,reaction temperature is 170 ℃,and reaction time is 4 h.The chemical structures of the intermediate and the product are characterized by IR.
