DEFLECTOLAB - A TRUCK MOUNTED AUTOMATED PAVEMENT DEFLECTION MEASURING DEVICE --14TH ARRB CONFERENCE, 28 AUGUST - 2 SEPTEMBER, 1988, CANBERRA, ACT, AUSTRALIA; PROC. PARTS 1 - 8

1988
The department of main roads has recently completed the construction of an automated truck mounted pavement deflection measurement device called the 'deflectolab'. Deflectolab has the following features: operating speed 5 km/h; unique rear mounted measuring trolley; measurement of deflection in both wheel paths; measuring beams the same length as a Benkelman beam; deflection measurement range 0-5 mm. Accuracy one per cent; records maximum deflections and bowl shapes; fully automated data acquisition system; automated data processing; and traffic control using a fibre optics sign. Deflectolab will be used for the cost effective evaluation of pavement structural condition and design of pavement rehabilitation measures (a). For the covering record of the conference, see IRRD no 808936.
