An ink cartridge having a reservoir (2) containing ink, and an orifice ink supply (3) communicating with an interior of the reservoir and through which can supply the ink to a recording head when the ink cartridge is mounted on a support ink cartridge (30) of a recording apparatus including the ink cartridge: a lever (8, 9) of which one end side is connected to a tank wall, may toward and away pivotally the other end side of the lever the vessel wall; and a pawl (12, 13) on the lever, which is engageable with the ink cartridge holder (30); characterized by a protruding guide portion (14, 15) to contact the support cartridge (30) for moving the other end side of the lever in a direction to engage the pawl with the cartridge holder ink .
