Shear-touque 3-state-space model of seismic response analysis for asymmetric structures

In order to resolve the solving problem of the asymmetric structures seismic in the engineering design, based on the author's previous study on the establishment of the equivalent yielding shear-torque (EYST) surface, this paper develops a '3-state-space' model for the estimation of the seismic performance of asymmetric structural system based on the assumption of the bi-linear force-displacement relationship and the displacement-based element stiffness determination, which shows high consistency with the experimental results of shaking table tests for single story asymmetric RC structures. This model makes it easy to explain the lateral-torsional coupling effects of asymmetric RC structures under earthquake excitation.
