Bioethics is considered one of the issues concerning human life, which establishes the general principles to be applied to all human practices. In the Þ eld of organ transplants it is possible to Þ nd dilemmas related to the end of life in the context of the person as an organ donor. Objective: to present the results of a literature review on bioethical issues involved in the organ donation: brain-death, organ donor, and donor vulnerability. Methodology: A search was done in six databases, including scienti Þ c papers, legal and ethical issues from 1995 to 2012. Results: twenty articles were selected giving rise to re s ection on the declaration of brain death and the maintenance of the donor’s life and the vulnerability of the person, which includes the responsibilities of health teams in protecting the individual and the need for re s ection about dilemma at the end of life when a person decides to become an organ donor. Conclusions: the declaration of death is a construct socially accepted by health care teams according to re s ection and existing technology, the law that protects the donor seeks to regulate the process of organ donation, however, the health teams are responsible for caring for the person until the end of life and beyond if it is an organ donor.
