Multidisciplinary Team-based Design-Build-Test Projects with an Aero Premise

The Engineering Education Innovation Center at The Ohio State University has offered a broad range of multidisciplinary team-based design project opportunities for incoming and fourth-year engineering students through its First-year Engineering Program and Multidisciplinary Engineering Capstone Design Program respectively. A team-based survey that focuses on the exposure of design activities within the iterative design process have been gathered for both first-year, commonly called cornerstone, and capstone projects. The following addresses the survey results and observations of the design projects within the two programs. Curriculum layout, implementation, and teaching strategies are discussed for a cornerstone and an industry-sponsored capstone project, both with a significant aero premise.
