University Biotechnology as an Educational and Research Space

ABSTRACTThe answers of several conceptual problems are seeking by the authors in the present plenary lecture. Its own nature is rather interdisciplinary because of complexity of the very core, constructing the modern biotechnology itself.As an introduction a historical review on the development of biotechnology has been made with emphasizing on the establishment and progress of biotechnological education in Bulgaria.The following questions are under discussion later-on in the lecture: - which of two alternative approaches in the training on biotechnology proved to be more correct according to our specific conditions;- to what extent the contemporary trends in biotechnology find its reflection into curricula for bachelor's degree on biotechnology and also on other related specialties;- are there any fundaments placed in advance during the high school training on science;- how biotechnology defends its position in the divergent network of master's programs and Ph-D thesa;- in which way the modern biotechnol...
