The invention discloses a system and method for restraining stick-slip vibration of a drill rod. The method comprises the steps that (1) a transducer provides a motor main given rotation speed through a PLC control system, the main given rotation speed is transmitted to a controlled object to obtain a motor actual rotation speed and motor actual torque; (2) the transducer transmits the motor actual rotation speed and the motor actual torque to a control unit; (3) meanwhile, a human-machine interaction device transmits information of a drill rod and drilling too combination structure to the control unit; (4) the control unit obtains an auxiliary given value optimized rotation speed through optimization calculation according to the control algorithm; (5) the control unit transmits the auxiliary given value optimized rotation speed to the transducer through a CAN bus to be superposed to the motor main given rotation speed, and the superposed rotation speed controls the rotation speed of a drive motor. By means of the method, the actual drill rod parameters can be accurately obtained, the motor actual rotation speed and the motor actual torque are displayed in real time, the purpose of restraining the stick-slip vibration of the drill rod in the petroleum drilling process is achieved, and the problems that in the prior art, hardware connection is complex, system work is not stable, and the realization effect is not ideal are solved.
