Setting data management standards for the Hazardous, Toxic, and Radiological Waste (HTRW) Program in Alaska

1994
EMCON Alaska, Inc., (EMCON) is fulfilling several delivery orders to set or meet existing standards for data management under an indefinite delivery professional services contract with the alaska District, US Army corps of Engineers (Alaska District COE) for the Hazardous, toxic, and Radiological Waste (HTRW) Program in alaska. Management of complex data files is an important aspect of their work. EMCON was contracted to review and compile all available geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data collected from Fort Wainwright groundwater monitoring wells during 1992 and 1993. The data are the results of numerous subsurface studies performed independently by numerous consultants. The project involves the evaluation and selection of database and geographic information system (GIS) software that meet the needs of this project, creation of the database, and production of the 1993 Summary Report for Fort Wainwright Groundwater Monitoring. The environmental digital data are being reformatted and hardcopy data are being input into a standardized database structure, approved by the Alaska District COE. This structure allows for storage of geological, hydrogeological, and analytical data compiled from several formats.
