The cardiopulmonary bypass (“autojektor”) was developed in the Soviet Union in 1926. The first scientist-developer was Soviet prominent physiologist Sergei SergeevichBrukhonenko. He stood at the origins of modern resuscitation. His permanent constructive work in this field was the most sought after, especially during the hard time of World War II. The experimental scientific contribution of Brukhonenko to the research of cardiopulmonary bypass was very important international priority in the development of national medicine and it was highly appreciated.
