Covering: up to June 2002. This review covers aldose reductase inhibitors (ARIs) isolated from natural sources. Compounds in the review are grouped according to the source from which they have been isolated: terrestrial, marine, or microorganism and the in vitro inhibitory activity of the compounds is also showed. The literature, both journals and patents, up to June 2002 is reviewed and 86 references are cited.
