The lyric clearly dominates poetry in the twentieth century. The changes that have occurred in poetic genres, particularly in the long poem [poema], are directly related to it. By tradition, this genre is defined as lyric-epic. However, at the turn of the century in Russian poetry there appears (and gains ever greater use) a long poem of a new type — the lyrical. (1)
