Reactivity of Baccatin III Derivatives towards Samarium II reagents

Abstract A study of the reactivity of 10-deacetylbaccatin III ( 1 ) towards samarium II reagents in the presence of various proton donors led to efficient synthesis of 9β-dihydro-10-deacetylbaccatin III ( 7 ) and 2-debenzoyl-9β-dihydro-10-deacetyl-baccatin III ( 9 ).
