Light connects us. Street lights stretch between houses, lasers link us to the Internet as they zip through optical fibres, and we sit and tell yarns around camp fires. The United Nations announced 2015 to be the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, and there are some truly brilliant stories to illuminate.
