Magneto-polymer composites prepared from metallo-organic iron complexes

1996
Abstract We have prepared samples of magneto-polymer composites from two metallo-organic magnetic fillers of the Fe complexes of 3-thiosemicarbasone 2,3-indolinedione (isatin) which have been immersed in defined ratio together with an inorganic magnetic filler of MnZnO-Fe 2 O 3 ferrite into poly(vinyl chloride) paste. The metallo-organic iron complexes are magnetically ordered up to about 305°C. The permeability curves of the magneto-polymer composite materials have been measured and it has been found that their physical parameters show a significant increase in magnetic permeability compared with magneto-polymer composite materials including only MnZnO-Fe 2 O 3 ferrite. These results are supported by Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements, and it has been found that substantial increase in magnetic permeability implies an increase in the s-electron density on Fe 2+ and Fe 3+ nuclei due to the interaction of the organic magnetic filler with the inorganic one.
