Magneto-optics of cadmium arsenide

Abstract Using the band structure model of Bodnar (1) we have calculated the frequency and wave-number dependent electronic dielectric tensor of Cd 3 As 2 in the presence of a magnetic field, for arbitrary direction of the field relative to the c-axis of the crystal. This involves calculating not only the energy levels but also the 8-component wave functions and the current matrix elements. The magneto-optical properties of the material in both the Faraday and Voigt configuration are discussed on the basis of this calculation.
