O ptical characterization of Yb,Tm:KYW crystal concerning laser

Absorption and emission spectra as well as F (Yb ) and H , F (Tm ) excited state relaxation of Yb:Tm-doped potassium 5/2 4 4 yttrium tungstate (KY(WO ) ) crystal were measured. The intensities of the electronic transitions were analyzed from the point of view of 42 further application of this crystal for diode pumped solid-state lasers. The processes of energy transfer between Yb and Tm ions under 980-nm excitation in this medium are discussed.  2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
