Effect of Triangular Split Ring Resonator and Modified Mushroom EBG Loaded Substrates on a simple planar monopole microstrip patch antenna
2015
In this paper a simple microstrip patch antenna of dimension 28 x 45 mm2 is investigated in details. Two dielectric substrates each having dielectric constant 2.2 and thickness 0.3935 mm is used thereby giving a total substrate height of 0.787 mm. A wide bandwidth of 3.76 GHz and gain of 1.32 dB is achieved. The gain of the antenna is improved in the later section of the paper by employing air substrate, triangular split ring resonators (TSRR) and modified mushroom shaped electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures loaded in the substrate. All the analysis of the antenna is done in HFSS 14.
