Testing the optimum: the role of testing in establishing sustainable surface coating processes

The article is based on a presentation given by the author, who is Technical Director, LVH Coatings, at the IMF symposium ‘Targeted testing for cost reduction’, Birmingham, 10 March of this year. The argument that there is an optimum coating thickness range which gives a sustainable best value for money for paint manufacturer, coater and customer is illustrated using a paint application model.
