A stirring and cooking utensil 10 comprising a stationary support structure 12 supporting an electric motor 24, a chamber 16 for containing foodstuffs to be stirred, means for heating the foodstuffs and means 22 adapted to rotate the chamber simultaneously about at least two substantially orthogonal and intersecting axes wherein the rotating means are rotated/powered by the motor. Ideally the rotating means can rotate the chamber through 360° about all three axes. The heating means may be infra-red or microwave radiative heaters, induction coils, and thermal conducting or convective heaters. The outer surface of the chamber may be spherical and the stationary support structure comprises a closable casing to hold the chamber and three wheel assemblies 22a , which are powered by the motor, to support and rotate the chamber. A paddle arrangement may be mounted within the chamber.
