Indications for prostate multiparametric MRI - changes over 7 years in a single referral center.

2021
Prostate Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (mp-MRI) is a well-established tool for detection of clinically suspected prostate cancer following negative systematic biopsy. Studies published over the last decade have shown that performing mp-MRI prior to the first biopsy increases the detection rates of clinically significant prostate cancer, while decreasing the rates of diagnosing clinically insignificant cancers. These data include 3 large-scale prospective trials: a study by Siddiqui et al published in 20151 ; the PROMIS study published in 2017 2 ; and the PRECISION trial published in 2018 3 .
