First Results in Cluster Simulation of Alternative Automotive Drive Trains

Control software plays an important role in the development of alternative drive trains. Energy management intervenes with the control of the combustion engine, the transmission or an additional electrical machine in different ways. In order to develop the energy management before or parallel to the vehicle construction phase, a complex software development process is required that equally supports modeling, simulation and implementation. In the R&D of Volkswagen cluster simulation was established to simulate the drive train of a vehicle as well as to develop algorithms for the relevant electronic control units (ECU). The methodology of cluster simulation will be represented in the following article.
