Emulating Tunneling with Elastic Vibrating Beams
2018
By analyzing the vibrations of an elastic beam having a locally periodic structure with two defects located symmetrically with respect to the center of the beam, we show both theoretically and from the experimental point of view that two localized wave functions, one symmetric and the other antisymmetric, are produced at the position of the defects. This is an example of a classical tunnel effect.
