Brain function of infants fed on milk from mothers with low serum folate levels
1969
Brain function of exclusively breast fed infants at the age from 3 to 6 months was examined electroencephalographically by using a frequency analyzer which was prepared to be able to observe slight changes in basic waves of slow cycles. Simultaneously nutritional state of the infants was evaluated by the estimation of serum folate levels of their mothers. It was found that there was a delay in the maturation pattern of EEG of infants fed on milk from mothers with low serum folate levels.
