Analysis of Auxiliary Bridge Structural Elements with Advanced Design Method
2014
For develop of the compressed auxiliary steel bridge structural elements (longitudinal bracing, transverse bracing, brake anchor bracket etc.) popular solution is using angle-sections that called Greek-cross (star-cross). The loss of Greek-cross sectional columns stability is “dual-themed property”; particularly in case of certain columns length the characteristic failure mode is the plane buckling in longer length and flexural-torsional buckling in smaller length. In the course of design must be considered the possibility of both buckling mode. The article presents the analysis of the two types of failure possible.
