Applying Ordered Technique Set for Fault Localization

2019
Many spectrum-based software fault localization techniques can locate faults effectively, but to fuse them for better localization effectiveness would comprise a valuable research direction. Previous studies have selected several existing fault localization techniques, and their results are combined here for final statement ranking. However, in previous studies, these techniques have always played an equal role in the localization process, which means that their weights are the same. Thus, the effectiveness of fault localization could be decreased. This paper proposes an approach for ordering selected techniques which determines the position of each technique by processing the average EXAM scores of the techniques and weighting them for more effective fault localization.
