Metabolie Profile Testing

Metabolic profiles of dairy cattle have been used to predict the occurrence of metabolic diseases, to diagnose or confirm the diagnosis of metabolic diseases, to assess fertility status, and to assess nutritional status. This article considers the usefulness of metabolic profiles for these purposes. The authors also address problems concerned with the acquisition and storage of samples in relation to accuracy of analytic measurements. Metabolic profiles may at times be useful. However, they are probably unnecessary on a routine basis and should be used only after an evaluation of nutrition and management by other means.
