Preparation of Pyridine from Tetrahydrofurfuryl Alcohol with MoO_3-Ce_2O_3-MgO/γ-Al_2O_3Catalyst

2006
Pyridine was prepared from tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol(THFA) and ammonia by gas phase reaction over the catalyst MoO_3-Ce_2O_3-MgO supported on alumina. The catalyst was characterized by BET.The reaction products were analyzed by gas chromatography.Experimental results showed that, when the catalyst loading was 10%MoO_3-3%Ce_2O_3-2%MgO by weight,n(THFA)∶n(NH_3)=1∶4,and reaction temperature was 550 ℃,the conversion of THFA was 99.12%,selectivity to pyridine was 87.09%,and the yield of pyridine was 86.32%.
