RothC model simulation of soil organic carbon dynamics of fluvo-aquic soil in Northern China

2010
The RothC model(Version 26.3)was used to simulate the dynamics of soil organic carbon(SOC)under the wheat-maize cropping system in a long-term fertilization experiment in the Northern China Plain.Six typical fertilizer treatments(CK、N、NP、NPK、NPKM-NPK+ manure、NPKS-NPK+ maize straw)were chosen to simulate the SOC dynamics of the topsoil(0~20 cm).Model simulation agreed well with the measurements except the NPKS treatment. The simulation efficiency of the NPKS treatment improved when we modified the DPM/RPM ratio of plant carbon from 1.44 to 3.35.So we concluded that the RothC model was feasible to predict the SOC dynamics of fluvo-aquic soil under different fertilizer management practices in the Northern China Plain, but some model parameters should be modified when a great amount of straw carbon input into the soil.
