Treatment of Simple Bone Cyst by Corticosteroid Injection: A Case Report

1996
Simple bone cyst (SBC) accounts for 3% of biopsied primary bone tumors. These benign lesions often occur in the metaphyseal region of growing bones, especially the humerus and femur. The pathogenesis is uncertain. Among the treatment options, corticosteroid injection is a simple and effective method. A case of simple bone cyst with pathological fracture over right proximal humerus was treated with intra-lesional methyiprednisolone acetate (MPA) injection. The lesion had healed well four months later. This case is presented to emphasize the importance of methylprednisolone acetate injection in the treatment of simple bone cyst.
