During high-risk neutropenia, fluoroquinolone (FQ) prophylaxis is recommended by several international guidelines based on a 2010 meta-analysis which demonstrated a decrease in all-cause mortality.1 However, a more recent meta-analysis showed a significant reduction in febrile episodes and bacteraemia without associated benefit on overall mortality.2.
